WELCOME MARY BETH CURRY...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mary Beth Curry: A key addition to the Sylvia Thomas Center’s Board of Directors

BRANDON, Florida (February 26, 2013) – The Board of Directors of the Sylvia Thomas Center for Adoptive and Foster Families, Inc. is proud to announce that Mary Beth Curry has been elected to its ranks.  A lifelong resident of the Brandon area, Ms. Curry is the Executive Director of the Trey Curry Foundation founded in 2008 in her brother’s memory to help children in need in the Brandon area.

“We are thrilled to have Mary Beth join the Board of Directors,” exclaims Board Chair Dr. Gerald Thomas.  “She brings enthusiasm, resources and fresh ideas to help us continue to bring healing to hurting children and struggling families.”

The Sylvia Thomas Center has been successfully serving Hillsborough County adoptive families since 2000.  “We are the agency charged with keeping the “forever” in forever families,” explains President and CEO Denise Jamieson.  Named a Non-Profit of the Year finalist by the Tampa Bay Business Journal in 2010, the Center wraps services around adoptive families who are in crisis to prevent adopted children from being placed back into foster care, further devastating their spirit.

The Center, located at 500 Lithia Pinecrest Road in Brandon, provides other services as well, including daytime and evening support groups for pre and post-adoptive parents, the Teen Scene therapeutic support group for adopted teenagers, the Forever Friends Club for adopted children and biological children in an adoptive home aged 5-12 years, KidStrong events such as a holiday party, Spring Breakaway and Lifebooking parties, and general assistance and referrals through its ASSIST Line.

“I’m excited, and humbled, to be selected as part of the Sylvia Thomas Center’s volunteer leadership team,” states Mary Beth Curry.  “My life’s mission is assisting children in need and I look forward to bringing healing, joy and peace to the lives of these adopted children and families.”  The Sylvia Thomas Center looks forward to working with Ms. Curry as well.
