What is the mission of the Sylvia Thomas Center?
The mission of the Sylvia Thomas Center is to promote permanency by providing comprehensive supports to adoptive and foster families. |

Is there a fee for services offered?
There are no fees for services offered through the Sylvia Thomas Center. Occasionally, we will host trainings given by other organizations that may be of interest to our families, and these may charge a small fee. If a family finds that paying the fee presents a hardship for them, they may apply for a scholarship through our Adoption Support Connection scholarship fund. We will not turn families away from trainings due to an inability to pay. |

What can I expect from the Sylvia Thomas Center?
The Sylvia Thomas Center is here to provide support, and intensive case management to adoptive families who may be facing challenges as a result of the adoption process or behavior problems with an adopted child. We also have monthly adoption support group meetings, trainings for adoptive and foster parents, as well as professionals, fellowship among adoptive and foster parents, community resources, a resource lending library, and most importantly, a safe haven for adoptive and foster families. |

Can I volunteer?
Of course! Volunteering is a great way to network with like-minded individuals and a great way to gain life experiences. We welcome individuals as well as groups that are required to meet community service hours as part of their membership requirements. Volunteers will need to attend a short volunteer orientation, and depending on the area a volunteer works in, a background check may be required. The Sylvia Thomas Center recognizes and appreciates the vital role volunteers play. |
